WHO WE ARE

Who We Are

IDUSA (Independent Democratic Union of South Africa) is a multi-sector trade union dedicated to representing workers across all industries in South Africa.

We are committed to protecting workers’ rights, promoting fairness in the workplace, and ensuring that every worker has access to strong and reliable representation.

Our slogan, “The Spear of the Workers”, reflects our role as a powerful force defending the interests of workers nationwide.

OUR HISTORY

Our Foundation and Growth

IDUSA was founded on 17 January 2019 in Olievenhoutbosch, Pretoria as a township-based union designed to be accessible to all workers.

The vision was to create a union where workers could walk in freely, receive assistance, and be represented without barriers.

Since then, IDUSA has grown into a national organisation with a presence in all 9 provinces, offering on-site consultations to ensure members receive support directly at their workplaces.
